What type of art or project can I submit?
We are looking for artists of all types—painters, sculptors, photographers, collagists, installation artists, filmmakers, performers, and musicians—to take part in this community-sourced, citywide celebration of the bridges. In other words, we are open to all quality works of art and performance.
Does there have to be a bridge in it?
Using “Bridge” as a thematic or metaphorical element of your work is encouraged, though it is not required. The “Bridge” theme may include—but is not limited to—bridging communities, bridging styles, bridging time periods, concepts, politics, perspective, mediums, etc. We’ll leave it to you describe the connection in your artist statement.
How big can my piece be? How many can I submit?
The size of the piece depends on the venue. Please check out venue page for size restrictions. At this point, we are accepting one piece per artist. However, if you have a body of work you would like us to consider, please note that on your submission form and provide a link or jpegs of the artwork.
Is there any funding for artists?
At this time, we’re unable to provide any funding for artists or works of art.
When does my work need to be in your hands?
Art intake is on a rolling schedule based on venue. We will be coordinating individually with artists for their drop-off day. If your work is not turned in on the day you have been scheduled, and you have not rescheduled with PDX Bridge Festival staff, it will not be accepted in the festival.
Is there an artist agreement?
YES!! We want to make sure your artwork is safe and that the galleries/organizations handling your artwork are safe. PDX Bridge Festival has a general contract for all artists to sign. Additionally, each partner gallery/organization will have one that pertains to them individually.
Where’s my art going to be shown?
Your art will be shown around the city, in both traditional and non-traditional gallery venues. More information on each space will be available soon, please check back 05/15/2010
Can I sell my work? Who takes a commission?
Yes. You can sell your work. PDX Bridge Festival does not take any portion of the proceeds from your sale. However, each participating venue will have its own consignment agreement.
