2010 BRUNCH ON THE BRIDGE! – Saturday, August 7th

Bridging the Gap of Hunger

CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE TIME LAPSE VIDEO FROM THE EVENT!

As the finale event of the festival, the Brunch on the Bridge—which will transform the center lanes of the Hawthorne Bridge into a public green space fit for a picnic of thousands—is intended to raise awareness around issues of hunger in our communities and strengthen the bonds between our urban and rural communities through the food we eat. Please bring a Non-Perishable food item to contribute to Fish Emergency Services.

This ticketed event, held from 10am-1pm on Saturday, August 7, centers on an open-air food experience in a nontraditional location. Lucky participants will get a chance to experience the Hawthorne Bridge in a playful and fantastic environment! The event entrance is on the Westside of the Hawthorne Bridge, and tickets will be available on the day of the event.

Food is not provided, but a selection of Portland’s best food carts will be on hand, or you’re welcome to bring your own picnic basket to enjoy!

Participating Food Carts:

Public Domain Coffee
Caffe Vita Coffee Roasting Company
Koi Fusion: Korean Oregon Infusion BBQ
Potato Champion’s Spudnik: Poutine benedict
Fat Kitty Falafel
Fried Onion: Chicago Dogs with a New York Twist
Luna and Larry’s Coconut Bliss: Dairy and Soy Free, The Evolution of Ice Cream
Burgerville Nomad
People’s Pig: Sandwiches made with locally sourced heirloom pigs

Parking:

The Bite of Oregon is happening that same day so parking on the West Side of the Hawthorne Bridge will be limited, but we are making secure vehicle  parking available on the East End of the Bridge in the ODOT lot at SE Water St. and Main for $3 a car. It’s a pleasant 5 minute walk over the Hawthorne to the event gates on the West End of the Hawthorne Bridge. Bike parking is free, and can be found near the Westside event entrance. We always encourage public transportation. Please note that buses will be re-routed during the bridge closure. Find more information about routes and stops at http://trimet.org

A FEW MORE THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND:

Alcohol is not permitted.

Wear flat shoes! High heels are not encouraged on the lawn or on the bridge grating, as it could create a trip hazard.

We look forward to seeing you at Portland’s newest temporary park!
